Why two hospitals a few miles apart charge different amounts
Nothing about the procedure changes. What changes is the hospital's own price list, and until 2021 you had no way to see it. The prices here are the self-pay (or "discounted cash") figures — what the hospital says it charges someone paying directly rather than through insurance.
